What happens

How a flight actually runs

The launch is smooth and gentle, and then the world goes quiet. No engine, just the soft hush of wind over the wings as your pilot carries you along the coast and the emerald mountains. Below you the reef glows turquoise, and the seabirds ride the same trade winds you do. When it's time, your pilot glides you gently home to the runway you left from. It feels less like flying in a plane and more like being carried on the breath of the island.

20-Minute Eco Flight

Your first taste of flight the way the birds know it. The field falls away, the world goes quiet, and the reef below glows in shades of jade and turquoise. Twenty minutes is long enough to feel the wind lift you and to hear nothing but its whisper over the wings, and you'll land wanting more. If your schedule has room, the 30 lets you stay up there longer.

A full hour on the wind, with no hurry and no engine, just you and the sky. Follow the ridge west until the island runs out at Kaʻena Point, where the land meets the deep blue Pacific. Hang there a while over water that turns from turquoise to sapphire, then come home slowly, the way the albatross does. This is soaring at its most unhurried.

What your hour looks like

Door to door it runs about an hour. Here is where that hour goes.

  1. 15 min

    Arrive early

    Meet your pilot at the field in Mokulēia. We check you in and put you on a scale, because a small aircraft has to be loaded inside a weight and balance envelope.

  2. 10 min

    Get comfortable

    Your pilot straps you in, shows you the canopy latch and the seat, and answers whatever you want to ask before you go.

  3. The launch

    You roll down the runway, the ground drops away, and the sound goes with it. From there on, you are soaring.

  4. 20 to 60 min

    Soar, then land

    Twenty, thirty or sixty minutes along the coast and the ridge, then a long quiet glide back to the same runway.

  • You keep gliding, peacefully. A glider doesn't need wind to fly. Its long, graceful wings make their own lift as it moves through the air, which lets it descend slowly and smoothly, just as it does at the end of every flight. Rising air simply lets us stay up longer, and your pilot always keeps the runway within easy reach.
